TSCA needs your leadership, ideas, advocacy, and vision– apply to become a member of our Board of Directors! We are seeking passionate school counselors who want to work with other dedicated professionals in the state of Tennessee to advance the school counseling profession, better serve students and families, and to support future school counselors. EligibilityTo be considered for the Board of Directors, the candidate must:
| BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
Members of the TSCA Board of Directors are responsible for determining the overall direction of the organization, ensuring the organization does what it needs on behalf of its members and avoids what it shouldn’t do based on ASCA Ethical Standards and Position Statements. Board members are expected to be knowledgeable about ASCA’s standards and positions. Board members are responsible for the governance function of the organization, including the creation of TSCA bylaws, establishing policies, monitoring compliance with the policies, establishing linkages with TSCA members and completing all tasks necessary to meet these responsibilities. HOW WORK IS PERFORMEDMost board member responsibilities can be performed online and by phone/text. Aside from meetings (see below), Board members carry out their duties at times that work for their schedule. MEETINGSTo accomplish the responsibilities outlined above, the TSCA board meets monthly via Zoom. Board members are expected to attend these meetings. Service on the board requires the following attendance in person:
